How much time do I need to devote to the course?
Two 10–12 minute videos will be delivered each week. The activities will take you a few seconds to a few minutes to complete. Many of the activities are designed to be worked into your daily life, like during dinner conversations,on car rides, or as part of your morning routine. The course is meant to be practical. It won’t feel like work.
What age group should my kids be for me to get the most out of this course?
We designed the Foundations of Mindful Parenting course for parents of kids aged 0–16. We also created activities that appeal to younger kids as well as activities for older kids. Across the school-age spectrum, we’ve got you covered. But remember, this course is focused on parents first.
How do I get my kids to join in?
First off, this course is all about you, the parent. The best way to teach your kids mindfulness is by modeling it. If you know that old saying, “Do as I say, not as I do,” you probably know it doesn’t work that well. Our kids learn by modeling what we do. (It’s all about mirror neurons, which you’ll learn about in the course.) That’s why we start with you.
But I’ll also show you how to teach some interesting brain science to your kids that they can use right away. And there are plenty of fun activities you’ll do with your kids to involve the entire family in the process.
Do I have to meditate?
You are not alone. I’ve heard every excuse and witnessed every eye roll as I’ve taught formal practices to thousands. My methods are specifically created for those who have a hard time committing to the cushion. The five-minute-a-day formal breathing practice is a small but important part of the course. The crux of the course is a toolbox of exercises for you to use in the moment to combat stress, optimize your brain for better focus and productivity, and to increase your happiness.

While the Foundations of Mindful Parenting course does review some of the content in my book, the main purpose for the course is to get the information out of your head and into your life.
